Elphaba
The girl who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West

Played by Shoshana Bean as of January 11th, 2005
(Idina Menzel was the original Elphaba)

Glinda
Wicked's "good" counterpart

Played by Megan Hilty since May 31, 2005, previously Jennifer Laura Thompson. (Original cast member Kristin Chenoweth)

Madame Morrible
Their rather horrible headmistress at Shiz University

Played by Rue McClanahan since May 31st, 2005. Original star: Carole Shelley - Tony Award winner for the Elephant Man and a star in Cabaret.

Fiyero
A handsome prince, fellow student, and love interest

Played by David Ayers since January 11th, 2005, replacing Joey McIntyre who assumed the role. Actor: Norbert Leo Butz performed for the first year and on the cast album.

Dr. Dillamond
A professor at Shiz University who is a talking Animal, a goat.

Played by William Youmans. Broadway credits include the recent Baz Luhrmann production of La Bohème as well as Titanic, Big River and The Little Foxes.

The Wizard of Oz
Played by Ben Vereen since May 2005. Joel Grey played the original Wizard of Oz and may be heard on the cast album. Followed by George Hearn plays the part.

Nessarose
The Witch 's invalid sister

Played by Michelle Federer (A Man of No Importance (understudy); Off-Broadway (In the Absence of Spring)

Boq
An unusually tall Munchkin with eyes for Glinda but who gets linked with Nessarose.

Played by Jeffrey Kuhn since January 11th, 2005 who replaced Christopher Fitzgerald (Broadway's Amour and Off-Broadway's Saturday Night).
